Three Ways To Keep The Eyes HealthyBy Toby Tunwase
Many individuals take their eye health for granted, and that is why millions of individuals have eye problems every year. Some of these defects lead to a permanent loss of vision, while others can be corrected with lenses.
However, certain practices could keep the eyes healthy and free from most eye problems, and even improve vision. We have compiled a couple of them here.
Eat eye-healthy food
What you eat can do a lot to your eyes and vision. Taking in a diet that is rich in vegetables and fruits has been proven to improve eye health. Vegetables like spinach, kale, and collard greens contain antioxidants that prevent the formation of cataracts. Grapes have also been shown to protect the retina against the effects of oxidative stress, amongst several other benefits. Other foods that are beneficial to the eye include carrots, salmon, sardines, and tuna.
Rest your eyes
We live in the digital age, and many people work in front of a computer screen for hours, thereby straining the eyes and suffering from fatigued eyes at the end of each day. Experts have recommended a 20-20 rule to deal with this. The rule provides that for every 20 minutes spent looking at a screen, stare at something else that is about 20 feet in front of you for 20 seconds. This will help to reduce eye strain.
Regularly go for eye check–ups
You might think that your eyesight is satisfactory, but there is no way to be certain except you get it checked by a trained expert. Regular check-ups will prevent avoidable complications with eye issues.
