Why is it necessary to time the length of your workout?

By Toby Tunwase

Working out is great. It is one of the best things you can do for your body and health. However, it is essential to note that no matter how beneficial activities can be, they have to be monitored and controlled to maintain balance. This brings the question of how long your work out should be and why you should time it.

A lot of different factors should be considered while you are choosing the length of your workout. You should consider your age, your training experience, the goals you would like to achieve through an exercise, workout structure and the breaks you have between workout sessions, how crowded your gym is, and many more.

These factors would help you determine whether it will be best for you to time your workout session. If you work out before you go to work in the morning, you need a time limit on it. You should understand that it is not always true that the length of your workout determines how effective it will be. You want healthy and strong bones and muscles; you don’t want them worn out.

It isn’t so much about the time allocated to workout. The quality is of utmost importance. As you improve on your workout, it doesn’t necessarily mean you should do something about the length of workout; you could, for example, increase the weight or the distance. Timing the duration of your workout can help you focus; it can increase your level of seriousness and improve the quality of your workout.

Timing the length of your workout is essential if you cannot trust yourself to concentrate.
